Mainland Big Band

Mainland Big Band is one of Christchurch’s most experienced and established dance bands, with a proud history of music-making dating back to 1964. Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2024, the band continues to entertain audiences across the city with its energetic performances and rich musical heritage.

Available for weddings, private celebrations and corporate events, the band also hosts a popular monthly dance at the Cashmere Club on the first Saturday of every month. Their repertoire features something for everyone, including Ballroom, Rock & Roll, Latin and Modern dance favourites.

Made up of up to 21 dedicated musicians, the band rehearses weekly under the direction of an experienced musical director. Their extensive repertoire spans timeless Big Band classics from artists such as Count Basie through to contemporary hits by Adele, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars.

As a specialist dance band, Mainland Big Band is committed to delivering memorable performances, combining outstanding instrumentalists and vocalists to create a fantastic atmosphere for every occasion.
