September Festival Update
Welcome to the September update from the Christchurch Big Band Jazz Festival!
Programme
Our full programme is now live! It can be viewed on the website in all its glory or you can download the PDF here. And there will be copies available soon from all venues and libraries....
One of the exciting parts of this year's programme is our involvement with the Te Whare Tapere Performing Arts Precinct Open Day taking place on Sunday 25 October. It's a great initiative to be a part of, thanks to Isaac Theatre Royal, The Piano, The Court Theatre and Tūranga for inviting us to be part of your special day!
Remember that there are some incredible ticketed events at The Piano also as part of the programme. Check out TNT! featuring Capital City and Lisa Tomlins from Wellington on Friday from 6pm - 7.45pm and Latin jazz pianist Dan Costa with the Bill Martin Big Band on Saturday from 5pm - 6pm. These will be two very special shows featuring some amazing out of town talent. We can't guarantee that there will be door sales, best to get in now.
Volunteering opportunities
If you would like to volunteer for the festival you can now sign up here or email me at katie@bigbandfest.org.nz to find out more. There are lots of opportunities from handing out programmes to collecting donations to MCing to scanning tickets.... something for everyone! We can promise some fun times and lots of music!

Donations....
Putting on a festival of this size takes a lot of mahi.
We have an incredibly committed group of volunteers who are putting in countless hours behind the scenes to pull everything together. And, of course, none of it would happen without the amazing musicians who give their time and talent to be part of the Festival.
But we still need a little pūtea in the pot to make it all happen!
This year we have some incredible venues and a bigger programme to help celebrate our 20th year. We’ve applied for a number of grants, and the Christchurch City Council has supported the Festival over the years, but the reality is that we can do more with more.
If you love what the Christchurch Big Band Jazz Festival brings to Ōtautahi and are able to contribute, we’d really appreciate a donation. Every contribution, big or small, helps us keep this community-run festival going and enables us to continue providing opportunities for musicians and audiences alike. You can donate through our website here or contact katie@bigbandfest.org.nz for more information. Or if you'd rather you can purchase some merch! We have some cool hoodies that can be preordered ahead of the Festival. Orders must be in before 5 October. Just fill in this form and make the payment!

Thank you for supporting live music, our musicians and this very special Festival.

Every Labour weekend we bring the energy of big band jazz to the streets and venues of Ōtautahi. If you love live music and want to see this festival continue to thrive, your support truly makes a difference.
