The Ellesmere Big Band is a storming swing band with 124 YEARS of history! Established as a brass band in 1902, the band grew into a 19-piece big band in 2004.
With members of all ages and from all walks of life around the Selwyn and Christchurch area, the Ellesmere Big Band is a proud part of the community and rehearses weekly in their 1918 band hall.
Lead by band director Vince Leahy, they play for events and swing dances around the district. It is a known fact that listening and dancing to the band will bring a smile to your face and make your feet move involuntarily!
