Rangi Ruru Jazz Band

The Rangi Ruru Girls’ School Jazz Band is a group of very keen musicians from Years 9 – 13. Under the direction of Lana Law the girls enjoy working together learning new charts, taking on the challenge of learning to improvise, and working to improve their individual and collective playing. The band regularly participates in both Ara JazzQuest and the Southern Jam Youth Jazz Festival, where the girls have been Festival Winners, both Gold and Silver Award winners, and has receivedindividual player awards. They also enjoy performing at Rangi events and other community gigs.
